giraffe who thinks he's a candy cane

 collage and painting on board

6" x 14"ish

silly old giraffe -

he doesn't know it is spring...

pink

Mira and I went to the zoo

and I tried to take a bunch

of pictures of animals -

and then my camera died

so now I am going to draw as many as I can

Here is the first guy...

new friends

I made some new friends this weekend.

Mixed media

6" x 5"

on board

I am really liking the look of these "messy" guys.

ugly bug ball

I realized I never shared this...

a while ago (something like 2 years now)

I did this little book based on

the silly kids song "Ugly Bug Ball"

it is all digital artwork

and all rights of the song belong to Disney,

i just made the drawings :)

I tried to only use CMYK

(the solid printing process colors- Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black)

but the song mentioned a

"queen in yellow, black and green"

which I took to mean a queen bee... :)

and she got green shoes.

Every good queen knows that the shoes match the crown...

and after the caterpiller met his queen more color arrived.

I think this could be more clear in the art,

but I haven't had the chance to update it.

Need to add color

and I would love to add my paper texture

to this to make it more rich...

someday...

anyway, my first children's book illustration!

on my own :)

Walrus

a quick doodle in reaction to a friends article.

I don't know as though it is great,

but it is

so I am sharing it.

almost looks like the gulf is going to eat him...

poor guy

long legged cat and her friend dog

sometimes the inspiration comes from old friends
gone
but not forgotten

Frog

Frog from the archives of my sketchbook - a doodle became a drawing today.

peacock

Mira draws, scribbles

and then declairs it is a peacock.

I dont' know if she knows

what a peacock looks like,

but I doodled one today....

just for her.

striped cat

a quick squiggle today...

getting my feet wet to start out the week

Scribble Project

go to www.thescribbleproject.com
you will find a team scribble and a future coloring book

Here is my submission for said "TRAIN"

i don't really have a story for them yet, but I am sure there is one there...

the fish came from some drawings I did for a bathroom mural project

the lion came from my doodles for the train...

someone said, looks like a sun lion...

and the rest just came together with a little tracing in between.

hehe

these guys make me happy.

Happy Wednesday!

IF: Muddy

my muddy little guy...

a quick doodle not very original, but muddy none the less

Ugly Bird's Insanity

an ugly bird is contemplating belly button lint

silly bird, you don't have a belly button...

a doodle tonight and my first submission to monday artday...

Bird on wire

my birds came back this week

he's been behind all the people and trees waiting...

sad little bird on a wire

this guy is feeling kinda blue

not sure why - maybe he has the post vacation blues?

But at any rate, this adds to the already many styles of Bina Garry.

Cartoonishness?

my city behind needs some work

and I feel like I need to add the poles for the wires?

maybe I will update him.

and I did...

IF: Frozen Fish

ice turns into a fish...

IF: Flying

a quick sketch this week

learning to fly is a bit awkward,

but that doesn't mean it can't be fun...

Invite for Mira

It isn't officially printed,

but here is a little illustration I did for my daughter.

purple and green YEAH!

Blue Dog

I started an ABC book for Mira.
Last night I painted the first letter "D"

simple

today I read,
"some things should just be done for fun"
So here it is... a Dog for the fun of it.

more letters for fun...

Rabbit

Hop, hop, hop

Brown Cat 2

I did a bunch of animals for Mira's bedroom walls.
Since she will one day grow out of her building block room,
I am using those drawings in this fun medium.
I seem to love this digital paper.
Working in QuarkXPress is just so easy for me
and I love the tools and it goes so fast.
I better get some other animals up so everyone doesn't think I am cat obsessed!

IF: Frozen Polar Bear

Here is a white bear in the cold blue...
